A town facing the sea

Towards the mid-80s and 90s, Vila-seca made a determined commitment to sustainable tourism growth, which would ensure a future economic model that was diversified and adaptable to the constant changes in this activity, without irreversibly mortgaged the territory.

The promotion of a municipal water park in 1987 in La Pineda, Aquopolis Costa Daurada, the incentive given to quality hotel growth, the urban renewal undertaken, the overall improvement of tourist services and the implementation of the Vila-seca – Salou Tourist Recreation Center (PortAventura), inaugurated in 1995, generate a before and after in the development of this economic model in the municipality.
