Privileged geographical location

Vila-seca owes much to its privileged geographical location and the opportunities it has been endowed with over the course of each historical period.

Positioned on the coast, in the middle of the Costa Daurada, close to major roads and the main cities of the Camp de Tarragona, this gives it an advantageous role to quickly undertake a change in the economic model, which was based solely on agriculture until practically the middle of the 20th century.

This is how, in a short period of time, the opportunity factor of being in a privileged location takes on its true meaning and Vila-seca becomes a municipality with great possibilities for tourism and for participating, together with Tarragona, in the consolidation of the petrochemical industry and port system binomial.

Center of economic activities

As a result of its strategic location and careful urban planning, Vila-seca is a clear example of the coexistence of the two great engines of the economy of the Camp de Tarragona and Catalonia: industry (17,4%) and services (74,6%). This diversification allows it to have a certain cushion of stability in its labor market.

It is not easy to find in the same area a whole set of high-quality tourist facilities, led by PortAventura, which complement each other and offer a unified tourist offer that places Vila-seca, within the Costa Daurada, as a tourist center of the highest international level.

The entire political management program of the municipal government of Vila-seca is based on continuing to revitalize the municipality with new economic activities that generate employment, based on the experience accumulated in previous complex implementations, such as PortAventura, and based on generating confidence in future investors.
