Catering from the Vila-seca Winery

The restoration of the Celler, a project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Vila-seca City Council, has a budget of 4,8 million euros, of which the Government of the Generalitat finances 2 million through ERDF funds.

This initiative by the Vila-seca City Council included the restoration and rehabilitation of the winery and different actions with the aim of increasing Catalan tourism competitiveness and contributing to the diversification of the offer and deseasonalization of demand through an innovative project, the museisation of the Celler. The aim of this action was the design and execution of a different museum intended to impact both the citizens of Vila-seca, with its recent history, and the visitor from outside, with an interesting offer of cultural and tourist visits.

The overall project was to create a Cultural Park between the two major facilities in the eastern area: the recently restored Vila-seca Castle, along with its garden, and the entire Celler de Vila-seca, which has been rehabilitated and adapted for cultural use. The restoration project placed special emphasis on the value of the architectural space of the main nave and contemplated opening the rear facade to a landscaped environment through a semi-transparent glazed scenic box, connecting with the pine forest of the Castle.

It should be remembered that the Celler de Vila-seca, built in 1920 by the architect Pere Domènech i Roura, is considered a Cultural Asset of Local Interest.
