The new routes will start operating on Monday, June 15th.
The Plaça de la Cançó Catalana will become the new public transport interchange center and the connection between Vila-seca and La Pineda with the Bus Blau will be strengthened.
The Vila-seca City Council will launch a reorganization of the routes and stops of the intercity buses that serve La Pineda on June 15. The measure, communicated to the operating companies and the Generalitat de Catalunya, will affect both local services and interprovincial and long-distance services.
The action responds to the municipal desire to improve the operation of public transport, increase road safety and reduce the number of buses on streets with the highest traffic intensity. At the same time, it will allow progress in the transformation of mobility in La Pineda and prepare future actions to improve the Passeig de Pau Casals.
One of the main innovations will be the creation of a new public transport interchange centre in Plaça de la Cançó Catalana. This space will concentrate the operations of Bus Blau, local intercity services and interprovincial and long-distance lines, becoming the main reference point for public transport in the centre of La Pineda.
This reorganization will involve the elimination of four stops located on Passeig de Pau Casals in the direction of Tarragona and will significantly reduce the number of buses passing through particularly sensitive points from a mobility point of view, such as Carrer d'Hipòlit Lázaro and several sections of Passeig de Pau Casals itself.
At the same time, the City Council continues to work to strengthen the connection between Vila-seca and La Pineda through the consolidation and expansion of the Bus Blau service, a strategic commitment to promoting more sustainable and efficient mobility for the residents of the municipality.
The aim is that this summer La Pineda will have two Bus Blau lines connected to Vila-seca. A new line would be added to the current Line 1, which reaches Plaça dels Països Catalans, which would allow La Pineda to be directly connected to essential facilities and services in Vila-seca, such as the Health Centre, the Station or the Conservatory, without the need to make transfers.
In addition, the City Council is working to ensure that the two lines offer a combined frequency of 45 minutes, which would significantly improve daily travel options and consolidate public transport as an increasingly comfortable, efficient and competitive alternative to private vehicles.
With these actions, Vila-seca continues to advance in the development of a more sustainable, safe and adapted mobility model to the current needs of residents and visitors.
