The Vila-seca City Council, with the collaboration of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Catalan Women's Institute, the Tarragona Provincial Council, the Rovira i Virgili University and various local entities, has organized an extensive program of activities to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25N). Throughout the month of November, the municipality will host more than twenty proposals aimed at all ages, with the aim of raising awareness, reflecting and moving towards a society free from gender-based violence.
The program began with the play We sext., on November 3 and 4 at the Josep Carreras Auditorium, aimed at students from educational centers, and will continue with several exhibitions such as Free and without fear, at the Municipal Market, and All the women of Vila-seca, at the Municipal Library. Throughout the month, the Punts Lila al carrer will visit different spaces in Vila-seca, La Pineda and La Plana, offering information and resources for equality and the prevention of gender violence, while the institutes will host the Lilac dots in the yard, awareness-raising and debate days for young people.
The program will also include activities such as Let's play for equality! at the Espai Jove Vila-seca, the theater (In)visible violence, banner workshops, crafts and games for children, as well as a set of family workshops in municipal toy libraries, which will emphasize co-education and respect from childhood. On Saturday, November 22, the institutional event of 25N will be held at the Celler de Vila-seca, with speeches, reading of the manifesto and a colloquium by psychologist Alba Alfageme, under the title Gender-based violence and current challenges, which will feature live music by Raquel Lúa. On Tuesday, November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the 25N demonstration will take place, departing at 7:00 p.m. from Vila-seca Castle and arriving at Plaça de l'Església, with the participation of the Esbart Dansaire Ramon d'Olzina, the Tot Joc Play Library, the Socio-Educational Intervention Service (SIS), the municipal high schools and the Casal de la Dona. The program will close on November 28 with the day Masculinities: a challenge for professionals, at the Vila-seca Castle, and the session The wellness suitcase at the Tot Joc Toy Library.
