Vila-seca promotes ViGFest, the Vila-seca Guitar Fest, its first International Guitar Festival, with David Russell and Carles Trepat as the main protagonists.
The Josep Carrers Auditorium and the Vila-seca Conservatory are joining forces to create this new event that will combine concerts, an international competition, master classes and the premiere of the Mediterranean Guitar Orchestra.
The Festival will be held from 1 to 3 July 2026 and will bring together some of the most prominent figures in the international guitar scene, with a program that combines artistic excellence, training and promotion of emerging talent. The ViGFest was born with the desire to become a reference event and reinforce Vila-seca's commitment to musical education and the dissemination of great performers.
One of the highlights will be the recital by guitarist David Russell, on July 2nd at the Josep Carreras Auditorium. Considered one of the world's great figures in classical guitar and winner of a GRAMMY award, his international career places the festival on the circuit of major guitar events.
On July 3, the spotlight will be on an evening that will combine tradition and projection of the future with the participation of Carles Trepat, one of the most influential figures in Catalan and European guitar. The concert will also include the premiere of the Mediterranean Guitar Orchestra, conducted by Enrique Lop and made up of thirty guitars, as well as a tribute to Fernando Rodríguez, a prominent figure in the world of guitar who recently passed away and was linked to the Vila-seca Conservatory for many years.
ViGFest maintains a close link with the VII Vila-seca Guitar Competition, which will be held on July 1 and will bring together young performers in different categories, with the winners' concert as a platform for showcasing new talents.
The pedagogical dimension will be completed with Carles Trepat's master classes on July 2 and 4 at the Vila-seca Conservatory, offering participants an opportunity to learn from an international reference.
ViGFest wants to become a stable event within the territory's musical calendar, adding to Vila-seca's cultural offering and reinforcing its projection as a city committed to music, training and artistic excellence.
