Last Thursday, March 12, the new exhibition that will host the Vila-seca Castle until September 27th, organized in collaboration with the Tarragona Provincial Council. The event was chaired by the Councilor for Culture, Leisure and Knowledge, Manuela Moya, and by the curator of the exhibition, Damià Amorós.

The exhibition, entitled “Mediterranean View”, brings together 50 works by 15 different artists, dated between the end of the 19th century and mid-20th centuryWorks by Joaquín Sorolla, Aristides Maillol, Ramon Martí, Arcadi Mas, Joan Roig, Ricard J. Estivill, José Nogué, Baldomer Galofre, Jaume Mercadé, Joaquim Mir, Olga N. Sacharoff, Domènec Carles, Josep Sancho, Eliseu Meifrèn and paintings also by Jordi Sarrà from Vila-Sec..

The exhibition aims to highlight the Mediterranean as a space of connection, inspiration and shared identity. During the presentation, curator Damià Amorós highlighted that it is “an exhibition that will give us answers to questions that we have not asked ourselves”, underlining its reflective and evocative character. And he highlighted that “it is an exhibition that invites rediscover the Mediterranean not only as a landscape, but as a cultural, emotional and historical experience"An experience that, from Vila-seca, opens up to the world and time."

The exhibition proposal is structured in four areasThe first, Looking at the light, includes seven works, six of which are by the painter Joaquín Sorolla. One of the works that can be seen there is an unpublished Sorolla, on loan from the Reus Museum. The second area, Mediterranean Presence, brings together fifteen pieces that explore the relationship between landscape and culture. The third space, dedicated to the painter Jaume Mercadé, is entitled Land and SeaFinally, the exhibition closes with Vila-secana view, a set of works by Jordi Sarrà that connect the Mediterranean with the local environment.

This exhibition marks a significant date for the Vila-seca Castle, as it coincides with the sixth anniversary of its determined commitment to culture and will allow it to achieve the 50.000 visitor milestoneThis success, the councilor highlighted, "is the result of a mature and solid cultural project that contributes to boosting the municipality's tourist and economic engine."

The exhibition can be visited during the visiting hours of the Vila-seca Castle. During winter hours (until June 15 and from September 15), it will be open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00 and, on Saturdays, also from 17:00 to 20:00. During summer hours (from June 16 to September 14), it can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00.
